Nail Art Society Gold Foil Kit
Monday, September 30, 2013nail a college drop outWith the first look, I wanted to try a gradient using Jessica Cinnamon Kiss. After I successfully did a single color gradient, I felt this was a pretty good place to add some gold foil to my thumb, index, and middle fingers.
For the second look, I was inspired by the royal themed decals that are also in the Gold Foil Kit and paired two crowns with Purple half moons. Why purple? Well For starters it is my second favorite color and finishers (not sure if finishers is a word) purple is associated with royalty.
Cala decal nail stickers and Pop Beauty Purple Plum

Xmas Half Moons
Thursday, December 06, 2012nail a college drop out
Not too long ago I made this post using China Glaze Blue Bells Ring and Cranberry Splash from the Holiday Joy collection. Well folks I still have two more lacquers from the aforementioned collection to show you.
So today, I've got Glistening Snow and Winter Holly. Being that I'm running low on energy these days I decided to do something pretty simple. Half moons!
I started with two coats of Glistening Snow and sped the drying process up by applying a layer of Dazzle Dry Quick Dry Top Coat.
Next, I applied a reinforcement label to the base of each nail and applied three coats of Winter Holly.
Overall I was surprised to find out that these guys could be used as stand alone shades as apposed to the glitter toppers I erroneously assumed they would be.
If swatches from a brown skinned beauty blogger are what you're after check out Jackie over at Candy Coated Tips!
Winter Holly and Glistening Snow (as well as all other China Glaze lacquers) can be purchased at Sally Beauty Supply, Ulta, Beauty Plus Salon, and various other places that women of all colors like to spend their hard earned money.
Why hasn't anyone come up with a Christmas collection of neons? Just a random thought.

Pink & Gold Half Moon Tutorial

Ahh yes, I finally have some time to do my nails AND blog about them. If only I could marry Justin Timberlake and never have to work again.
Anyway, enough of my excuses, here's what you'll need.
Reinforcement labels, Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Coral Reef, QRS Nail Lacquer 24KT, and Dazzle Dry Top Coat
Step 1: (After you apply your base coat of course!) Apply two coats of QRS Nail Lacquer 24KT
Step 2: Apply one coat of Dazzle Dry Top Coat and let dry. You could simply wait until your polish dries completely, but why wait that long if you don't have to. Right?
Step 3: Place Reinforcement labels at the base of your nails.
Step 4: Apply Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Coral Reef like so...
Yes, it looks messy. Trust me this is perfectly fine!
Step 5: Remove labels and apply another layer of Dazzle Dry Top Coat.

Recently I got the three new fall Pixi Nail Colours and I haven't figured out what I wanted to do with them... until now!

I didn't have any problem with application for any of these polishes. In fact they are all very well pigmented!

Summer Fun With Nail Quakes
Monday, July 23, 2012nail a college drop out
While watching Saturday Night Live I found myself trying to find something different to do with crackle polish. And somewhere between Usher singing Climax and Weekend Update (the only reason I still watch SNL) I thought, "Hey, let's try half moons."
I used three coats of Barielle Pink Flip Flops underneath one coat of MUA Makeup Academy Nail Quake in Shockwaves on my index and middle finger & two coats of Barielle Mint Ice Cream Cone underneath one coat of MUA Makeup Academy Nail Quake in Quiver on my ring and pinky finger.
Barielle Mint Ice Cream Cone & Pink Flip Flops
When I first looked at these in the bottle they looked like they had a "dusty" quality. I was pleasantly surprised with their vibrancy when I actually used them.

Not too long a go I did a post with double the half moon fun (click here to see it). So naturally, I decided to try it again with a different color combination.
This time I used OPI San Tan-Tonio & Suzi Loves Cowboys from the OPI Texas Collection.
I showed one of my friends this mani the day I did it and her exact response was, "Oooh chocolate!"

I've done my fair share of half moon manicures so I figured why not try something a little different.
For this mani I used reinforcement labels, Wet' n Wild Black, and Sinful Colors Snow Me White.
DO try this at home!

More Half Moon Mani Madness
Saturday, December 10, 2011nail a college drop out
Let's face it I've been way too tired to do any actual nail art these days. What's my way around it? Half moons! They're like Covergirl, easy, breezy, and beautiful. So without further ado here is another half moon mani.
*As usual this shot is blurred for holographic goodness.
For this mani I used two coats of Color Club Age of Aquarius topped with two coats of NYX Girls Spotlight
Are half moons a justifiable excuse for nail art?

So, I was eating some girl scout cookies the other day thought, "What's a better way to commemorate such a great snack than a manicure?"
And here we are! An ode to my favoritest girl scout cookie ever, THIN MINTS!!!!!
For this mani I used Color Club Edie and OPI Suzi Loves Cowboys.
If only Thin Mints made me thin.

Tiger's Blood For Everyone!
Sunday, November 13, 2011nail a college drop outThis past summer Icing released three Charlie Sheen inspired polishes—this one in particular being Tiger’s Blood, I found it appropriate to pass around in an occult like circle. But because I don't have one of those I'll share it here with you. That’s right! You get Tiger’s Blood, you get Tiger’s Blood, and YOU get Tiger’s Blood! Everyone gets a brand new car! Oops, I totally meant brand new Tiger’s Blood. Okay no one is actually getting a bottle of Tiger’s Blood from me, Oprah, or Charlie Sheen. Although everyone can look at what I’ve decided to do with it.
Think of this polish as the reddish-pink equivalent to China Glaze Snow Globe from this years holiday collection. You could wear it alone or layer it. Whatever floats your boat, rocks your socks, or even *insert cliche phrase here*
I decided to fool around and add it to none other than... Glamorous!
Charlie Sheen likes Tiger's Blood, do you?
Tune in. Drop out. Love polish.
