Gold Leaf over Black

Nothing To Disclose Hey guys, if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I took a mini vacation. Along the way I had a serious nail break, painted my nails in a moving vehicle, and went to American Apparel for the first time.

Later this week I'll show you what AA lacquers I purchased, but for today you'll get to see the outcome of painting my nails in the back seat of my best friends car.

I didn't have time to do the really detail oriented nail art I wanted to wear for this trip, so I simply packed a a few bottles to do my nails once I got to the intended destination.

photo taken after four days of wear

I started out with a base color of my hands down favorite black nail polish, Wet n Wild Wild Shine Black Créme; and after that I dabbed on gLORIous 22k Gold Leaf Topcoat.

I think I did relatively well for painting my nails in the back seat of moving car if I don't say so myself.

I also did my friend's nails (at a kitchen table) for her birthday, and here are our nails at the Oklahoma State Fair.

What's the strangest place you've ever painted your nails?
Tune in. Drop out. Love polish.

Silcare The Garden of Colour Oils Review

Press Sample
I got my hands on a few products from a Poland based brand named Silcare, and now that I've been testing some of the things that Silcare has to offer for about a month, I'm gonna show you my two favorites today.

Yay for cuticle oils!

Garden of Colour Oil Raspberry Light  | Garden of Colour Roll On Oil Lemon Yellow

Let's start with the Raspberry Light Pink cuticle oil that comes in a 15mL glass tube.

What I like about it:
  • Smells like sugary sweet artificially flavored & colored red candy, but not too overpowering.
  • A little goes a  l  o  n  g  way with this product. A tiny drop at the base of cuticle is just enough.
  • It's very absorbent, even more so than my usual go to--organic coconut oil from Trader Joe's by the way
  • The pipet is a fun, dare I say classy(?) touch.
What I don't like about it:
  •  My only issue with this particular cuticle oil is that if you're me not careful, it's easy to drip oil on places other than the intended area i.e. a pair of light wash denim jeans. Is it obvious I learned that one from experience? To avoid unexpected spills I suggest using the pipet while sitting still (read not standing at a bus stop en route to work).

Now let's move on to the Lemon Yellow cuticle oil that comes in a 10mL plastic tube.

What I like about it:
  • My first thought after use? "Mmm it smells like Lemon Heads, mmmmm." If it wasn't obviously that I like just about any nail treatment that reminds me of something edible, it is now right?
  • Much like Raspberry Light Pink, the scent wasn't too overpowering. Subtle enough to make me salivate just a little, but not so strong that I could smell it when my hands were away from my face.
  • Again, like Raspberry Light Pink, the absorbency was the same; a little goes a long.
  • The roller ball was much more practical than the pipet.
What I didn't like about it:
  • No complaints here.

Overall, my experience was the same with these products, so it really comes down to a matter of preference. I suggest the Garden of Colour Oil ($2.96 and comes in 19 different scents) that has the pipet for at home use; and the Garden of Colour Roll On Oil ($3.33 and comes in a total of 18 scents) for the perfect on-the-go cuticle oil.

The cuticle oils shown above and so much more are available HERE on Silcare's website.

Are you easily wooed by pipets and sugary smelling nail care products?

What Would I Rather Spend My Money On?

Sponsored You ladies have been with me on this blog journey for a little over three years now, so I think we've built enough rapport to talk our lady problems. We have all been there, you're wearing your cutest/favorite pair of undies and then surprise surprise your uterus betrays you and there goes those panties you liked so much.

Instead of having to buy more underwear, I'd rather spend money on--you guessed it--nail polish. Don't get me wrong, I'm one of those girls that goes to every VS Semi-Annual Sale, but I don't like it when I no longer have a choice as to what I want to spend my extra cash on.

But with U by Kotex and their new 3D Capture Core the undies are saved and I can choose to spend a surplus of funds on the good stuff (a.k.a. more nail polish).

I bought Tom Ford African Violet as a bday gift for my self and felt now as good a time as any to show it off.

I'm pretty much a sucker for things in pretty packaging so I am definitely feeling the colors these come in.

Visit U by Kotex and pledge to #savetheundies and request your free sample of U by Kotex 3D Capture Core feminine pads so you can spend your extra cash on other things nail polish.

Thanks U by Kotex for sponsoring today's story!

What would you rather spend your money on? New underwear or new nail polish? Let's chat in the comments & and join the conversation on social media using #savetheundies.

My First Day Of School w/ Michelle Obama

Nothing To Disclose As some of you may know, Tuesday was my first day of college in three years so it was only right to rock the FLOTUS, Mrs. Michelle Obama, on my finger tips.

I bought these Cha Cha Covers Michelle Obama water decals back in January and had been waiting for the most appropriate occasion to use them, and my return to college seemed more than befitting.

*not currently available

Cha Cha Covers picked the perfect photo of the First Lady to make this decal. Does it look familiar? It should. It's from the 2012 Democratic National Convention and everybody was speculating what shade graced her fingernails that night.

OPI sent out a press release; and if I remember accurately, Zoya even ran a promo for the shade shade they thought it was. But in the end, it wasn't even nail polish, it was Artistic Nail Design Soak Off Colour Gloss in "Vogue."

The decals were pretty easy to use and fully opaque on top of a clear base coat. If you've used a few different types of water deals, you definitely understand how awesome that really is.

After four days of wear the edges were looking rather ragged so I added a border of LCN Pink Pepper--also the same color on my thumb because these decals were too short to cover it.

So far I'm really happy about going back to school and I've been telling anyone that will listen. Ready for a kinda funny story? Well you don't really have a choice because I'm gonna tell you anyway.

The following is a conversation between me and my sales coach at work:

On Tuesday I used some of my paid vacation time so I could attend class while not getting penalized for coming to work late and my manager says, "I thought you weren't here today." To which I reply, "Today was my first day of school in three years!" "Oh they let you in? That's great!," she says. Then I retort with, "It's community college, they let everyone in." Obviously, this was followed by a hearty chuckle from the both of us.

Nothing To Disclose Pretty sure this is the best back to school mani ever. What do you think?
