Dirty, Sexy, Money

Nothing To Disclose
Recently, I won a gift card at work and obviously I turned around and spent that bitch on nail polish!

I've been wanting to add some Misa Nail Lacquers to my stash so for awhile now. So I decided there was no time like the present to finally get my well manicured hands on Misa Dirty, Sexy, Money. Why? Because I've only heard other nailistas talking about it since before I started blogging. It's seriously almost embarrassing how long it took me to finally buy it.
What could be better than Dirty, Sexy, Money? $100 bills y'all! Hence today's mani.

DSM is a two-coat, dusty, turquoise créme and I'm pretty sure I couldn't love it more for this fall/winter season.

For my accent nails I used some left over $100 bill water decals because... well it only makes perfect sense to pair money with even more money!

And just for funsies, here's my right thumb. You know, in case you thought I didn't have one.

See that nasty looking gash in the corner of my poor little thumb? My friend and I were drinking at her place and for some odd reason I had to pick up the cardboard box in her living room. And then it cut me. *sad face* You know what's even worse? I had to have another friend put a bandage on my thumb for me.

Nothing To Disclose Let that be a lesson for you kids. Don't drink and pick up random ass boxes in a living room.

Do you have any weird drunken stories? Or do you wanna talk Benjamin Franklin nail art?

Let's exchange stories/talk all about the Benjamins in the comments!
Tune in. Drop out. Love polish.

Zoya Entice & Ignite Swatch and Review

Press Sample It's Monday again and I finally have a post ready for you guys! In between going back to school and working full time, I haven't had a ton of time to talk polish/nail art with you guys but I'm def trying.

Anyway today's swatch and review about for Zoya Entice (créme) & Ignite (shimmer) Collections is probably the largest swatch and review I've ever done in one post here on Nail A College Drop Out so let's get to it!

India | Claire | Teigen | Veronica | Remy | Ryan
Margo | Sansa | Genevieve | Yuna | Nyssa | Autumn

Zoya does the whole releasing a 6-piece créme and a 6-piece shimmer collection so well, I felt it was a good move to swatch each shade from Entice & Ignite with its color counterpart (i.e. shimmer with matching créme). My thumb, index, and middle fingers are shades from Ignite; while my ring and pinky fingers are shades from Entice

India & Veronica
India is a deep burgundy with gold metallic shimmer that reaches full opacity in two coats
Claire is a very deep brick red créme that becomes fully opaque in two smooth & easy coats. The cherry on top you wonder? When I removed of these shades I didn't get any stains on my nail beds or cuticles. That's definitely a win for any red polish!

Teigen & Veronica
Teigen is a describe by Zoya as a  violet plum with copper shimmer, but to me, it's a deep raspberry shade with copper shimmer. Either way it goes, Teigen is fully opaque in 2 smooth coats.
Veronica is a berry tone that I wasn't too thrilled with color-wise, but it does have an impressive formula. Being a two coat, full coverage créme isn't anything to scoff at honey.

Remy & Ryan
Remy. Guuurrl let me tell you about Remy. Its a 1 coater! Yes a one coater! You need this in your collection. I can promise you that. In real life one coat is perfect but under a camera lens and bright lights you can see slight VNL (visible nail line), so for blogging purposes, swatched above is two coats.
Ryan is an indigo créme that, unlike its shimmer counterpart, becomes opaque in two coats. I think this would be great for some nautical themed nail art.

Sansa & Margo
Before I even get into the details on these lacquers, I have to say that they are my fav combination. I love me some purple nail polish!
Sansa an eggplant with gold shimmer. Much like the rest of the E&I lacquers, it is opaque in in two coats.
Margo looks kind of meh on its on but I def pops next to Sansa! This is the only shade that required three coats.

Yuna & Genevieve
Yuna is gray with copper and gold shimmer. Reaches full opacity in two coats.
Genevieve is an elephant gray créme with a streaky first coat, but evens out just fine after the second.

Autumn & Nyssa
Autumn is a brassy orange with gold shimmer. It becomes fully opaque in two coats.
Nyssa is described as a milk chocolate brown that becomes fully opaque in two coats.

Overall the Entice & Ignite collections are full coverage, and with the exception of Margo & Remy, all the shades obtain  full coverage in two smooth coats.
If you have to choose only two lacquers from the ones posted today--you know, if you were trapped in some sad parallel universe that only allows you to choose two bottles of nail polish out of a twelve piece set--you should definitely make it Remy and Sansa.

Before I end this post, I do want to say the Ignite Collection reminds me of a fall alternative to the Irresistible Collection for Summer 2013. Don't believe me? Peep Lakeisha's swatches over on her blog

Remy, Sansa, and every other lacquer shown above retails for $9 each on

Proud Beauty Blogger of Color - Black & White

Nothing To Disclose Yesterday was the end of September and the Proud Beauty Bloggers of Color prompt of the month was black & white. I should've had this post up yesterday but, let's just face it, I suck at time management and I completely forgot yesterday was the 30th.

Just gonna address the elephant in the room for a moment here. Yes my nails a re nubbins again. After a series of breaks to my left index finger and my right thumb, I got tired of constantly having to repatch them so I just decided to cut them off completely.

Okay, now back to the mani.

I started with a gradient of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and Wet n Wild Wild Shine Black Créme--I can't stop telling you that this has been my go-to black nail polish for years! Then, because I had to break a monochromatic theme and throw in a lil bit of neon somewhere, I splattered on Dare To Wear Violetta. And to bring it home I added a layer of  Nanacoco White Witch.

How do you feel about my shorter nails? Not gonna lie here, I feel hella naked rocking shorties.

Zoya Ultra PixieDust Swatch & Review

Press Sample Happy Mani Monday folks! Today I've got a swatch and review of Zoya's latest addition to their PixieDust line. That's right, it's Ultra PixieDust time.

L-R Noir | Arianna | Oswin

="font-size: small;">In the beginning of this month I showed you the press release and a retail display for this collection, and now it's time for a swatch & review!

Let's kick things off with Oswin
Not being a huge red fan, I expected to not like shade whatsoever, but turns out it wasn't so bad after all.  Oswin dried to a very matte finish while the two remaining shades dried to a more jelly-like, semi-matte finish.

Next up is Arianna
Arianna is described by Zoya as a "[b]lue-toned red wine..." and I'd have to agree that the description is pretty dead on.

If you've been reading Nail A College Drop Out for any length of time--or even just read the post--you'd know that red nail polish isn't something I gravitate to. So when I saw Noir, I just knew I had to love it.

Well now that I have it, I don't like as much as I thought I would.

Let's end the review of the trio with Noir
Like Arianna, Noir dried to a jelly-like semi-matte finish. In real life, this lacquer isn't nearly as glossy as my camera/lighting set-up makes it appear.

Each shade shown in this post is three thin coats. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the color selection. In fact I could make a plea to Zoya, it would be that they go back to just doing the original PixieDust formula. Pretty please Zoya! With hearts, cherries, and rainbow sprinkles on top!?

Are you a fan of the Ultra PixieDusts? Or are you tired of texture polish all together?
Tune in. Drop out. Love polish.

Silcare Garden of Colour Fragrant Acetone Review

Press SampleEarlier this month I reviewed a couple of Silcare's cuticle oils and today I've got a bottle of scented acetone from Silcare's Acetone Fragrant Garden of Colour line.

What I like about it:
  • A soft, sweet artificial strawberry candy scent
  • The bottle itself is made of a plastic malleable enough to gently squeeze product out.
  • After you unscrew the cap, the bottle has a small hole the acetone comes out of.
  • Before I even used the product, I assumed that the whatever chemical is used to add fragrance would dilute the acetone. But I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this worked just as well as my regular unscented acetone.
  • This just might be the best part, when the lid was screwed on properly, I had no problem with the bottle leaking when it wasn't in the upright position. (I can be a bit of a butterfingers and I frequently knock over nail polish, remover, acetone pumps, etc and hope I haven't ruined my carpet.)

What I didn't like:
  • It's not refillable. So once it's empty, that's it, time to buy a new one.
Silcare's scented acetone comes in four different scents, Strawberry Pink (shown today), Melon Orange, Vanilla Blue, and Green Apple; and each size has a different price point, 150mL (shown today) is $2.56, 300mL is $3.33, and 600mL is $5.19.

I've actually never used scented acetone before because I always assumed it wasn't as strong as 100% pure acetone, but I'm glad I was wrong.

What's your experience been with scented acetone? Know of any brands I should be on the hunt for? Let's chat in the comments.
Tune in. Drop out. Love polish.
