There comes a time when I have to realize that my thoroughly planned manicure becomes a failure for one reason or another. And here we are with another contribution  to When Good Manis Go Bad.

A few days ago I finally sat down ready, willing. and able (so I thought) to fulfill another installment to the Art Dealer Chic series. The original idea was to take the print on Miguel's shirt and put it on my nails. I thought I couldn't go wrong. Seriously though, the print is literally a bunch of stick figures.


Let's back up so I can tell you exactly how this manicure started! I laid down a base color of Sation Lollipop! Goes The Princess. No problems there, so let's move on to the nest step.

Next, I sponged on a gradient using Sinful Colors Dream On, China Glaze Flying Dragon, and Dare To Wear Violetta.
So far, so good. I actually really loved how smooth the colors shifted into one another. By far my best gradient to date! And then came the stick people...

I painted the stick figure with my go to white nail polish Dare To Wear Flawless White. My issue wasn't with the polish. The hassle came in when I realized it had been such a long time since I did any somewhat detailed nail art and it was 3am (way past my bedtime by the way). My lines didn't come out very crisp so I scrapped the idea to cover every nail with tiny stick people, and do my thumb and one guy on my middle finger.


I guess I killed two birds with one stone. Some Art Dealer Chic nails and yet another episode of When Good Manis Go Bad.

It's no secret by any means that I'm pretty into Miguel. So obviously when I found out he was going to be on Saturday Night Live I cleared every bit of my non-existent schedule to tune in. (Click here and here to see him perform "Adorn" and "How Many Drinks.")

These nails were originally intended to be included in the first set of manis for Art Dealer Chic Week but I'm pretty content that I waited until now to do them.

I started with a base of my go to black, Wet n Wild Wild Shine Black Creme. The stripes are done in LeChat Dare To Wear Flawless White. For the primary colors I used Barielle Lemondrops, Barielle Blue Capri—both part of the Barielle Summer Brights Collection, and Wet n Wild Wild Shine Red Red. Because I couldn't leave it alone, I added a silver spike to my index finger.


I've heard that Miguel plans to expand upon the Art Dealer Chic series this summer and I'm pretty darn amp'd about it!

Last week I was on my lunch break doodling in my handy dandy sketchbook. This weekend I finally fulfilled aforementioned doodle!

I originally planned to do this mani with warm colored neons, but as you can see, I changed my mind.

While I was editing these photos my nails seemed kind of acid trippy (pretty sure "trippy" isn't a word) thus I began singing "Do You..." or maybe I just felt like singing a Miguel song. Whatever.

Today marks Day 5 of Art Dealer Chic Week. Oddly enough I've only played Kaleidoscope Dream once while doing nail art for the duration of the week. (Not the number of times I've played the aforementioned album relates to today's mani or anything.)

Today's mani is another one of my abstract interpretations of an album cover. It didn't turn out anything like I drew it in my sketch book, but I've learned to love it anyway.

Ah yes, Art Dealer Chic Week continues with inspiration from the joys that are daytime television. Don't know how daytime television correlates to Art Dealer Chic Week? Tuesday Miguel preformed Adorn on Ellen. Because I was at work when it aired (and I'm the last person on earth not to have DVR) I found myself watching it on YouTube.

Better late than never. But never late is better. Right? Never thought I'd see the day where I would make reference to a song by Jimmy from Degrassi, but the quote seemed rather tailored to the occasion because this post is being typed at 2:30am on a Thursday.

Now let's get back into Art Dealer Chic Week! As the title suggests, day three of Art Dealer Chic Week was influenced by the Kaleidoscope Dream: The Water Preview album cover.

A few days ago I made an announcement via Facebook that "I'm really really really really excited about a series I'm starting Monday." Well its Monday so here's this week's theme, Art Dealer Chic!

The goal? Simple. Five posts, Monday through Friday, which are all inspired by/conceived to the music and/or imagery of Mr. Art Dealer Chic himself, Miguel.

All introductions (and fawning over a man I'll never meet) aside, the idea for the first post of Art Dealer Chic Week kind of just came to me while listening to Kaleidoscope Dream on my way to work.
