China Glaze Holographic

Not So Holo Water Marble

Tuesday, May 07, 2013nail a college drop out

Press Sample I'm not gonna lie to you. When I originally saw photos of China Glaze's Hologlam Collection from last year's Cosmo Prof I immediately thought, "Yes, I'm going to buy three full sets. Hoard them until they become impossible to find. Then sell them on eBay and make a fortune."

Don't give me the side-eye! You know you've at least pondered the idea yourself. Anyway, the release of this limited edition collex came and I, like most polish hoarders enthusiasts, were disappointed with the holo (or lack there of).

Anyway, I attempted a water marble and here's the result. Allow me to toot my own horn and say this is one of my best--if not the only successful somewhat uniform--water marble I've ever done.

This mani isn't as holographic as a lot of other lacquers on the market right now in normal lighting so I was forced to go back to where I took my photos pre light box. My bathroom!
Pretty spiffy in different lighting eh? Well here's the today's product porn of exactly which shades I used.

For my thumb, index, and pinky fingers I used Strap On Your Moonboots, Sci-Fly By, and Don't Be A Luna-tic.
For my middle and ring fingers I used Not In This Galaxy, When Stars Collide, and Galactic Gray.

While swatching and wearing these guys individually, I can attest that the shades I was sent are opaque in 2-3 coats.

China Glaze Hologlam is available at fine salons and beauty supply stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $14.

Press Sample Will you be picking up any of these? Or will you stick to your tried and true holographic lacquers?
Tune in. Drop out. Love polish.
