If you follow my new Instagram account *cough* @DropOutNails *cough* you'll see I finally tried out my first thermal polish.

Glam Paint Lacquer Strawberry Cheesecake is a nude to pink thermal.
It's nude when warm, and pink when cold. Pretty simple right?

If you want to watch the transition as it happens, here's my InstaVid.

If you haven't already noticed, this shade is pretty sheer; even at three coats--which is shown throughout this post. In fact, I almost gave up completely on this lacquer.

The wear time on this polish is pretty impressive. I wore it for six days with no additional tip wear. I know, "additional tip wear." I say that because within an hour the polish shrank back from my tips a little bit.

My usual base/top coat combination is Duri Rejuvacote & Dazzle Dry Quick Dry Top Coat, which was what I used for this mani.

Maybe this polish doesn't play well with my go to base/top combo. Maybe thermals in general don't go with this combo. At this point I haven't done enough testing either way to find out for sure.

Strawberry Cheesecake retails for $12 on GlamPaintLacquer.com.

Have you tried any thermals? Experience any issues with "shrinking tips"? Let's get hot and cold in the comments.
Tune in. Drop out. Love polish.

  1. That is actually a pretty nice neutral for you. I kinda love that subtle shift.

  4. That is a nice subtle thermal. I can't pull off nude colors like that very well, but it looks gorgeous on you!

  5. That is a great neutral on you! I guess it is kind of a French-type shade, too. As for shrinking, I've found it to be an issue with some top coats when the polish underneath dries slower than the top coat - it remains flexible enough for the top coat to pull it back as it dries.

  9. Thanks, Glam Paint Laquer offers a few other shades that have a more drastic change. I'm gonna try one of those next time.

  10. Understandable, I bought another called Ocean Drive. I think that one is a bit more drastic than Strawberry Cheesecake.
